2008 American Eagle Gold

How much is my 1/2 ounce Gold American Eagle 2008 MS70 worth?

I recently purchased this coin for $800, knowing that the potential of it increasing drastically in value is pretty good, especially it being of such high grade. What is it value today? What could it potential be valued in 5 years? And also where would i find the mitage of this and previous years bullion?

Gold is currently between $700 and $900/ troy ounce. You have a bullion coin that is worth it's weight in gold plus a premium of 10-20%. So it should be worth $400 to $500. The best way is to go to a coin dealer and ask what the current price of the coin is, buy and sell price. I do not agree that gold will increase in the next 5 years like it did in the past 2. This is a market that it takes experience to trade in without loosing 2 shirts at a time. Precious metals, bullion coins, and bulk US silver coins are all very volatile markets. Good luck to you, the coins are very attractive, and may appreciate in the future.

American Gold Eagle coin question?

what is the likelihood(chance) that an American gold eagle coin, from 1988-2008 be fake on ebay?

With the price at which they sell, resulting in the chance that someone would try to sell a fake, I would not buy gold coins on Ebay.
Buy directly from the U.S. Mint each year when they become available for purchase. www.usmint.gov

Or buy from a reputable coin dealer.

Are there any way to sell my gold coins by mail?

I have five 2008 one ounce American Eagle gold coins that I want to sell to a reputable dealer.

How do I do this?

Is it safe?

"Gold By Mail" programs exist, and they aren't true scams but they are not a good deal. Meaning you will get paid for your gold but problem is you will get paid substantially less than the market value (upwards of 50%)

You should research a reputable gold dealer in your area and make arrangements for the sale with him. I did a google search with GOLD DEALER <MY STATE> and found some sources

Who's best to grade my coin?

I have a 1909 s vdb and want it graded. Some people say certain companys are better for different coins. Who should I go with?
Also, I am getting a 2008 $50 American eagle gold coin. Is it worth it to get that graded? Thanks

The top 2 grading companies are PCGS and NGC, you need to go through a dealer to have them submitted. As for modern gold bullion coins most grade MS-69 or PR-69 anyway why bother with the added expense unless it would be safer if you had it slabbed. Some people are not to careful with coins or like to show them off, better to scratch a slab than a coin. There are 2 other grading services that have a good reputation on you have to join ICG the other you can submit on your own ANACS. The first 2 I gave you seem to be more dealer friendly so may add a little more value to your coin.

I am looking for advice when purchasing a Platinum American Eagle coin...?

First off i started collecting 6 months ago and have acquired coins from a Morgan to Seated liberty half to silver eagle, presidential dollar, commemoratives, etc. I purchased my first gold coin a 2008 $5 buffalo graded by ANACS in SP 70(satin) Now i am looking to purchase a $10 platinum eagle and have narrowed it down to a 2008 NGC coin. I am aware that these coins come in MS 69/ MS 70 with a regular label or the E.R. I like the idea of early release but would like to have a MS 70 grade. Looking at PCGS price grade a 1997 $10 in MS 70 is listed at $7,000. The value of a 1997 $10 in MS 69 is $145 so this brings me to believe that i am much better off purchasing a 70 grade. (tho they did not offer E.R. in 1997) I am looking at this from a collectors viewpoint and would like to say that i own a $7,000 coin (i am aware this may not appreciate in all cases) would paying $300 dollars for a regular 2008 MS 70 be overpaying by too much, this seems to suit my price range as i know platinum is around a G/ounce. i am trying to decide between the regular label MS 70 or an E.R. 69 please share anything advice/comment you may have. 21/male. thank you

MS 70 is the highest grade possible it is the closest to being perfect as your going to get, it is also the most expensive if a MS-69 cost $100 then an MS-70 will at minimum be double the price. There is also the grade of Deep Cameo MS-70 this coin will let you see yourself as if looking in a mirror this is the most Expensive grade I know of. Good luck

Historically, gold has been much sought after because of its inherent value and beauty. It is a precious metal as well as a tangible asset, which means that you can feel and hold it in your hands. In addition, gold is a very good investment as it offers stability and liquidity, and it can be diversified.

Internationally, gold is recognized for its monetary value and as a financial asset. Some governments often use gold as part of their reserve, and it is also used to diversify investment portfolios.
