American Eagle Gold Coin Prices

I heard that the price of gold is expected to skyrocket in the near future. I would love to make an investment in it, but I have only a limited amount of cash right now. I have researched a few sites on the internet but most of them either charge large premiums or sell in packages. What is the easiest and least expensive way to purchase a half-ounce gold american eagle coin?

I would instead look at buying US commemorative gold on ebay instead. They are about a quarter ounce, so buy two. I have seen many sales of commemoratives lately from 1987 and 1988 selling for bullion prices. You could check out half eagles there as well.

I would say you should always use a credit card with any online transactions involving bullion. I buy with Paypal charging my credit card. Too many scary stories of fraudulent sellers out there to trust anything else.

How do I go about it without incurring a big commission?

I bought it from a dealer. He charges about $30-50 charge to buy or sell them.
That's per coin.

and do not sell yet there is more bank failures comming and many more investors will head to the exits (gold silver) and the price will keep going to 1200

1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, & 4 coin set.

ebay tracks the gold price pretty closely, you'll never get less than the scrap price for a coin (but you should get more)
1oz is currently going for about 1100USDs - about 700GBPs

But turns out American Eagle Coins are in a whole price category by themselves. They're usually 60 dollars more than an ounce of any other kind of coin. Check out this site. http://www.monex.com/monex/controller?pa geid=prices I paid the price of gold bullion, but the American eagle coin itself says it's 60 bucks more. So why did the guy at the coin gallery charge me bullion price?

He could have been an idiot.

The coins could be fakes, (maybe get them checked?)

Or he could be simply trying to off load them to pay that month's bills :S
