Australian 1 Cent Coin

Answers

what is the value of an australian 1 and 2 cent coin in good condition?

both from 1981

Value depends greatly upon condition. To a collector "good condition" means G-4 (good) which is a very worn coin. I am assuming you mean that your coins are in better than average condition. I would say that you probably will not be able to find a buyer willing to pay the full $3, but you may get many times the face value.

When were Australian 1 and 2 cent coins removed from circulation?

According to the Royal Australian Mint: "The last one cent coins were dated 1990 and the last two cent coins were dated 1989. They were progressively removed from circulation starting in 1992."

does anyone know what an Australian 1983 1 cent and 1968 2 coin is worth?? ?

The 1968 2 cent coin is a bit rare, but the 1983 1 cent is common. Sorry, I don't know exact value, maybe up to $5 for the 1968 2 cent if you are lucky.

Why does Japan still have a 1 Yen coin?

1 Yen is worth about 1 cent Australian, so it can't really buy anything. In Australia, the mint stopped making 1 & 2 cent coins in 1990, because they don't have any practical value anymore. While I was on holiday in Japan I was given some 1 Yen coins in my change. I didn't know what to do with them, so I gave one to a busker when I got back home as a joke and kept the other as a souvenir. I was wondering why the Japanese still use them. Are they supposed to be lucky or something?

Why shouldn't they??

You should know that Japanese shops love to have a number 8 at the end of a price - not because they think it's lucky in any way, but because they think they can fool the public! 99円 is virtually 100円, and everybody knows it! But 98円 is not quite SO close ... so instead of thinking "That's virtually 100円!" people are expected to think "That's LESS than 100円!!!"

Apparently Sony started it ... but with Sony products the price didn't actually END with an 8 - it ended with an 8,000円!! (Or sometimes an 800円!!)

If Japan abolished the 1円 coin, ALL the prices would go UP!!!! What a shocking thought!!

Starting the program yielded two issues: Sound effects cannot be controlled or muted within the program and the instructions are sparse and must be read on the programmer’s time frame. Beginning with the sound effects, the noises are not optional. Sounds cannot be turned off and the only way to control the volume is using the iPhone’s volume. The problem is that when controlling the volume on the iPhone it affects the the volume of the ringer. When I turned down the volume for the game I missed a later telephone call when the ringer was too low to hear from my jacket pocket. It would benefit the iPhone user to be able to control the sound effects as an option that would include turning...

The Cobbers statue by Melbourne sculptor Peter Corlett was unveiled at the former battlefield in France in 1998 and a replica is installed at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne.

"The battle of Fromelles on 19 July 1916 was the bloodiest day in Australian military history, with more than 1300 Australians soldiers killed and over 4000 wounded," the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Alan Griffin, said.

"The fallen of Fromelles have no known grave and a joint Australian/British Identification Board has now begun examining evidence to identify the remains of 250 soldiers recovered from the mass grave. The Board is trying to match the remains of the World War One diggers with DNA samples collected from descendants," Mr Griffin said.
