Year 11 Maths Problem!? (Trigonometry)?

Using trigonometry and the trigonometry area formula.

8 australian 50cent coins fit EXACTLY into an Australian $10 note.
The australian 50cent coin is a dodecagon(12 sides).
Here is a diagram to help:

I need to know what FRACTION of the $10 note is NOT covered by the 50cent coins.

If you could please show as much working out as possible that would be great!

thanks so much

Actually you don't multiply by eight . . . the ratio of one square to the inscribed dodecahedron is the same for 8 squares and 8 dodecahedrons.

Mint Coin Album

They are not U.S. mint sets put together by the mint but uncirculated sets put together by the a private contractor for the commemorative society. They unfortunately have little secondary market value. True coin collectors won't touch them nor will coin dealers. If a dealer does, they usually offer so little that it is insulting. the 1/2 dollars from 1965-1970 are at least 40% silverr. I would just hold onto them for now, the reason is, collectors now are just waking up to the fact that some of the early clad coins are not that easy to find in high grade. Some day, if your coins are free of bag marks, they may well pay off in the end. It won't be for a while. Most people have to lean the hard way, that coins from private mints and societies do not far well ,even if made of silver for all they are worth to a dealer is silver price, nothing more.

February 8, 2010 Coin Auction Viewings - A Rant

Just recently I and my fellow Australian Coin Collecting blog author were able to attend a smallish coin auction for both the lot viewing session and the live room auction the next day. The company holding the auction has been in business for more than 30 years and in this time has conducted quite a few more than 100 auctions. We've been to several of their auctions in the past and usually the experience isn't too bad at all. However this time a few things really got under my skin during the viewing of the lots and I feel like I should talk about them.
