During my travels to Australia over the last couple of years, I randomly decided to collect all the 1$ coins - and by chance, the last purchase I made these holidays at coles brought me the last missing coin. This does not include the non-circulated special editions, but merely the circulated ones.
Here's the list:

1988: Figure with and Koori Kangaroo for 200 years of English colonisation.

1996: Sir Henry Parkes.
1997: Sir Charles Kingsford Smith coin B.
1999: Year of Older Persons.
2001: 2 coin issues
100 years of Federation.
International Year of the Volunteer.
2002: Year of the Outback.
2003: 2 coin issues

They are in relatively good condition, I mean they were used and not new, but I can polish them. I obviously also have the normal 1$ coin with the kangaroos, but I doubt that counts. Anyway, it's 14 1$ coins, so its worth 14$ technically, but how much would they be worth as a set on ebay or other?
Thanks!
wow, go to a coin shop or an antique shop....
they would probably give you a more accurate estimate than people on yahoo answers. its advice, take it or leave it =]

I started about a month ago I have some really old coins like from 1965 (quarter US dollar) or I have a coin more than 500 years old. And a Japanese 100 Yens from 1961.
Any way the thing is most of the coins (around 40 out of 44 coins) were my dads collection but he stopped like 10 years ago and this month I took them.
My point is I am 13 years old. I live in Hurghada in Egypt (BUT I AM HALF RUSSIAN HALF AUSTRALIAN) the thing is that there are no coin clubs here and I get coins from friends that were abroad. I go to Moscow sometimes but I need a way to keep getting at leased 1 coin per week!!!!!HELP!!!

Without thinking twice i super glued my Australian 50 cent coin collection onto a collectors folder which is made of cardboard.
Now i want to remove these coins for a better folder, but will Acetone soak off the remaining super glue and stuck on cardboard from my coin? please help!
Thanks
also does anyone collect 50 cent coins? if so which ones are you missing? :)
Yes, acetone will do the job and won't damage your coins. As far as risks go it is flammable and volatile but not carcinogenic. It is dimethyl keytone. Be careful not to spill any. It removes paint immediately and it melts most plastics. You can clean your hands with it when you're finished
It's been years and taken multiple attempts to abandon the dollar bill and circulate the dollar coin. The silver dollar, Susan B. Anthony and the Sacajawea all failed to replace the George Washington bill. There should be a coin that is totally different than other cent coins and should be heavier to show value. They should make the coins to collect them, they should be made to spend.
The dollar coins at a similar value exists in many developed countries. They have coins including the Canadian Loonie and Toonie, the British pound and 2 pounds, the Australian Dollar and 2 Dollars, the Japanese 100 yen the 50 New Taiwan , and the 1 and 2 Euro coins.
The coins last much longer and saves a lot of money circulating and replacing than the dollar bill. They are easier to use in vending machines. The dollar bills are barely crispy and the machines always spit it out or maybe cause malfunction.
Yes, I agree. I have received some dollar coins recently and find them to be much more useful and easy to use. We also have 50 cent pieces that are almost completely out of circulation. Sometimes it seems the coin collectors are more in control of our money then the government.

After having already had an interesting career, Sulla came to prominence while in his 50s, during Italy’s Social War (91-89 B.C.) and the First Mithridatic War (88-84 B.C.). On one occasion Sulla invaded the capital itself to oust members of the opposing party, and soon after, in 82, he defended that same city from an assault by neighboring Samnites. His main platform was to erode the power held by wealthy families and the senate, believing he was more deserving of that authority. Sulla was successful, and established himself as dictator in Rome in 82 B.C. Not long after, in 79, he reluctantly forfeited his authority and soon died of disease. It is with the struggle between Sulla and Marius...
Exciting New Australian Dollar Coin Discovery
« Australian 1966 Carded Mint Set | Main | 2009 Australian Mob of Roos Dollar Struck on Bi-Metal Planchet »
February 11, 2010 Exciting New Australian Dollar Coin DiscoveryCoin blanks are imported by the Royal Australian Mint in huge 44 gallon drums pre cut ready to be fed straight into the presses. These huge drums of blanks are moved around the mint by the "Titan" robot seen here (I'm trying to paint a picture in your head). Factories overseas process strips of metal and cut out the coin blanks for many countries right around the world, with some companies producing blanks for more than one country.
Fast forward now to newly pressed one dollar coins leaving the RAM in bags to the Armaguard facility to be rolled into manageable $20 lots before distribution to banks and major retailers Australia wide. A particular mob of roos one dollar is packaged into a roll destined for a Woolworths supermarket. The checkout chick cracks that roll and the shiny new loose dollars are in the till ready to be given out as change. One very lucky lady is given one of these dollars in her change and gives this coin a second look as she leaves the supermarket. When she gets home she has a third look at her coin which looks just a bit different to all the other mob of roos dollars she has seen before.
