How much is this coin worth?

is this coin worth anything it is an australian 5 dollar coin here is a link to the picture http://www.aussiecoins.com/coins/five%20 dollars/1988-five-dollars-cwlth.jpg

If you had the proof version of the coin, it is selling on eBay in the $18 - $23 range, including postage. You have the 'business strike' version. There have not been any recent sales of this coin, nor are any presently listed. but generally, proof coins are worth more.

It's certainly worth more than face value because it's in the original packaging, but probably not more than $10.

Australian 5 cent coin vending machine question?

hey

my friend says that if you glue two australian 5 cent coins together
and you put them in a vending machine and press the coin return button, a $2 coin comes out because theyre the same size.
when i do this the coin goes straight through the machine and into the return chute. you dont even press the refund button. i weighed the two five cents that are stuck together and they weigh half of a regular two dollar coin's weight. is this the problem? has this trick ever worked for you?

Different weight and different thickness, those machines are designed to detect fakes. When $2 coins first came out that trick worked but not anymore.

Whose head is portrayed on Australian Coins?

Australian coins comes in
denominations of five, 10,
20 and 50 cents and one
and two dollar
denomination

All coins portray Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and are produced by the Royal Australian Mint.

The one and two-cent coins were discontinued in 1990-91 and withdrawn from circulation. Cash transactions are rounded to the nearest five cents, or rounded down at the option of the retailer. In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of decimal currency, the 2006 mint Proof and Uncirculated sets include 1 and 2 cent coins. As with most public changes to currency systems, there has been a great amount of seignorage of these discontinued coins, meaning the vast majority are never going to be worth a significant amount of money.

Australia has long issued commemorative 50 cent coins as a follow up to the commemorative crowns used prior to decimal currency. The first commemorative 50 cent coin was in 1970, commemorating Captain Cook's exploration along the east coast of the Australian continent, followed in 1977 by a coin for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee, the wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981, Commonwealth Games in 1982 and the Australian Bicentenary in 1988. Issues expanded into greater numbers in the 1990s and the 21st century, responding to collector demand.

Australia has also made special issues of 20 cent, 50 cent and $1 coins.

There are also many Australian five dollar coins of aluminium/bronze and bi-metal as well as many silver and gold bullion coins in higher denominations. These, like the U.S coins of higher denomination than 1 dollar or which are made of precious metals, are not normally used in payment but are still legal tender.

Gold, Silver, Metal Prices Commentary – 3/17/2010 - Coin News

Chinafornia

Good Day,

In a familiar replay of the past fourteen months’ worth of meetings, the Fed concluded on Tuesday that doing nothing as regards the fed funds rate at least, was still the most reasonable course of action. The US central bank thereby acknowledged that the U.S. economic turnaround is still not sufficiently vigorous to spark inflationary processes.

Since the Fed saw little justification for hiking the cost of borrowing at this time, it simply reiterated its well-worn "extended period" mantra and thus gave audiences reason to watch the same movie once again. You know; the one where carry traders borrow those ultra-cheap dollars and pump up the prices of everything you saw rising yesterday afternoon, as if the economic recovery was going on right here, right now, at full bore. Overruled, Mr. Hoenig.
