I have a $10 canadian mint coin from 1973 for the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Is this worth anything today?
Approx $30 - 40.
Canadian dollar coins are funny they are called a loonie and the two dollar coin is called a toonie, eh! www.canadiancoinsdollar.com
Will Americans finally accept 1 and 2 dollar coins instead of paper money, which is more costly to make and is only in existence because one state has a huge market for making the material and the other reason because americans thinking that if the U.S. dollar is paper instead of coin it has a better feel as the world's best currency.
Well, the British Pound is worth twice as much, the Euro is a ways up and now with the Canadian dollar worth the same and as analysts are saying, soon MORE, what will you do? ( Americans )
This is a general question to americans and yes, people like me living in canada, but I think I know what we're all thinking, buy tobbacco and alcohol for MUCH cheaper across the border, but how do americans feel now that their dollar is worth less than the Canuck Colour money?? Yes I said COLOUR lol.
Most Americans probably have no clue to the exchange rate and a whole bunch probably think Canada is a US state or near mexico. LOL
Americans will complain about the price of imports going up, but Boeing, US software companies and any manufacturers will be thrilled.
A whole bunch of Canadian factory worker have lost their jobs, because plants built when it was 62 cents to the CA dollar aren't profitable at par.
And it's certainly not helping business in Canadian border towns.

I need to make a 5 dollar coin. what should i put on the front, something that represents canada, like a symbol?
and who or what do u think should be on the back of the canadian coins instead of the queen?
also what would be a good name for the 5 dollar coin such as the dime for 10 cent, loonie for 1 dollar
you should use a leaf for a symbol

Excluding uncommon pieces like silver dollars, 50 cent pieces (both of which I'm not sure of for Canadian currency) their money mimics ours.
I can't imagine that completely by chance they also chose to use 1, 5, 10, and 25 cent pieces each with the same size, thickness, and color as American currency.
it doesnt mimic yours, i have currency from both places
and no, we dont want to be like you, sorry to burst your bubble
Your math teachers are feeling generous and each student is given n>0 of each of the standard denomination Canadian coins: 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢, and the always fun $1.
Your nath teachers are feeling generous and each student is given n>0 of each of the standard denomination Canadian coins: 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢, and the always fun $1. What is the smallest n (# of coins) such that it is impossible to select n coins that make exactly a dollar?
n = number of coins
You will only reach 86 cents it can't be done unless you double a coin which is not allowed in this problem.
If there was a Seventy five cent piece it could be done with a seventy five cent pieve and a quarter. But because it stars at a half dollar it can never reach a dollar.
If there was a 70 cent piece it it could be done with a 70 a 25 and a 5 that would equal a dollar.
With the current coins there is no way to reach a dollar without having more than one of the same coin.

Why PM Investors Should Ignore the Dollar Index :: The Market ...
Often thrown around as the end-all solution for tracking the value of the US dollar, the dollar index is one of the poorest indicators for the true performance of the currency itself. Silver investors who pay heed to the dollar index will certainly be led astray, as there are fundamental reasons why the index simply is not accurate.
Understanding the Dollar Index
The US dollar index tracks the daily price of the US dollar against a basket of world currencies. By doing so, it provides a very simple and basic indicator to track the change of the dollar's value without complicated futures contracts and foreign exchange contracts. All told, it is a very easy way to track the value of the US dollar, but only against the value of other currencies.
