How much is a canadian 50 cent coin from 1973 worth?
1969 Canadian Fifty Cent Piece - reverse.

Also how much would a 1973 and 1955 penny and 1873 -1973 dollar be worth.
Also what do you mean by "missing the strap"? also how much is a 1945 - 2005 i think its a nickel but all it says is canada cents with a v then i picture over it be worth? same with a1952 - 2002 penny

The 1973 50 Cent piece, and the 1955 and 1973 pennies, are very common, and worth just face value in Canada.

There *is* one very rare variation of the 1955 penny, that was minted in high relief (sharp contrast between high and low places) and in which the appearance of the usual gown strap on Queen Elizabeth II's shoulder was missing. Pennies of that "no strap" die variety have a value into the tens or even hundreds of dollars, depending on condition.

The 1873-1973 Prince Edward Island commemorative dollar is minted in nickel (so no silver value), and may have a slight numismatic premium - perhaps $0.50 to $1 over face - to a few collectors if in gem Uncirculated or Proof-like condition. (In the latter, it would likely be in its original case or envelope, and the premium to collectors might be slightly higher still.) Most of these dollars, however, are likely to be worth just $1 face.

The 1873-1973 Royal Canadian Mountie dollar is 50% silver, and the .375 Troy ounces of silver it contains is worth $6.75 alone at current silver prices. However, only under rare circumstances might you find one in circulation; it usually would also be in its original case or envelope.

Canadian ¢50 coin?
1969 Canadian Fifty Cent Piece - obverse.

I recently found two Canadian ¢50 coins, one of them is from 2002 while the other one is older and comes from 1972. I never heard about Canadian ¢50 coins, so what are they?

I have no idea of where they come, I just found them in my purse recently.
@Adam K: I AM in Canada...

Canadian 50cent coins were common currency. At on time they had a high silver content. If they have no silver content it might be worth a little more than face value, but you'll have to come to Canada to spend it. The older coin might have silver content; the 2002 coin is minted from some base metal.

Canadian 50 cent coin??

I live in canada and i have a few 50 cent coins. I have no clue how I got them, but they say 1952-2002 on them and d.g regina on the back, with a small emblem that says ERcanada or something.

The size of the coin is about the coin of a loonie or bigger, silver colored
Can I use it to buy things?

Yes, you can use them to buy things. These are regular, legal tender Canadian 50 cent pieces.

From a coin dealer's website:

http://www.calgarycoin.com/modern/cd50ce nt.htm

"For 2002 a special commemorative circulating half dollar was issued for the Queen's 50th anniversary. On the reverse the date was moved from the sides of the top of the shield, to below the shield as a double of '1952-2002'. A special new obverse was created for the 2002 commemorative half dollars, which shows her as she looked when she became Queen in 1952, and has a crowned ER II CANADA behind her. An attempt was made to actually get these coins into circulation, with the Hudson Bay stores and Post Offices handing them out in change, and this was probably the only Canadian half dollar to see any type of common circulation after the early 1970's."

Some of these 50 Cent pieces are for sale on eBay, in attempt to get a premium over face. Most auctions seem to close without bids, but a few - perhaps those with low shipping cost - seem to have received bids of about $1 per coin. (Other than any possible value to coin collectors, the coins are just worth $0.50 each; they are made of copper-nickel, so they don't have any silver value.)

i need info for a canadian 50 cents coin?

As a quick summary, Canadian 50 Cents pieces dated 1920 through 1967 contain about 0.3 Troy ounces of silver, worth about US $5 at today's silver price. There are also some scarcer dates in the 1930s and 1948, for instance, that have considerably higher value to coin collectors. 50 Cent pieces earlier than 1920 were minted in Sterling Silver, and can be quite valuable if in high grades.

Half dollars dated 1968-on, issued for regular circulation (as opposed to mirrored-surface Proof coins sold to collectors) contained only copper nickel, and are generally worth just their face value in Canada. The last Canadian half dollar coin was a Queen Elizabeth II golden jubilee commemorative issued in 2002, and bearing the dates 1952-2002, which may be worth a slight premium over face to collectors.

For more specific information, what year was your coin minted, and what grade is it in? You can find a guide to grading Canadian coins - which generally are graded on the amount of wear found on the side with the monarch's bust - at:
