The Coin I have has the picture of what looks like Hercules with a woman on each side of him holding hands. Around the edge of the coin it has Liberte Egalite Fraternite. On the other side of the coin it states Republique Francaise 5 Francs 1875. Can someone please tell me how much this coin is worth? Or where i can go to get a price for it I live in Michigan...Thanks
I have no idea where you came up with Canada but the coin you have is an 1875 5 franc coin from France. It has nothing to do with Canada, There are 2 one with an A mint mark (Paris mint) and one with a K mint mark (Bordeaux mint). The mint mark is at the bottom of the coin under the wreath on the dated side. The 1875A had a mintage of 13,339,000 and has a catalog value of $10 in grade fine,$12 in very fine, $16 in extra fine and $25 in mint state. The 1875K had a mintage of 1,661,000 and is valued at $15 in grade fine, $39 in grade very fine, $50 in grade extra fine and $150 in mint state. The coins do sell for around catalog value. Hope this helps.

Hello,
I collect Canadian silver dollars, especially Proof Like coins. The big grading service up here is ICCS, but a lot of PCGS coins are around also. How can I get a population report on Canadian coins by PCGS. I have written them (PCGS) and they don't respond. I have read it can be found on the Heritage Auction site, where I go often, but can't find it. Anyone got any suggestions? Anyone got any top flight Canadian silver dollars they are tired of?
Thanks
from PCGS
Well something is wrong here because the first Canadian silver dollar struck for circulation was in 1935 and there is no commemorative dollar from 1960. You must have what is called a trade dollar that was made for a celebration by a city or group. They are very common in Canada. The usually have a date on them that they are good up to. They are a private mint item not a Royal Canadian Mint item. There are thousands of them from British Columbia to Newfoundland. I have a lot from Prince Edward Island as well as Nova Scotia. They usually sell for $4-$20 depending on how rare it is. I do not have a catalog of values for these items but one is out there. Best I can do here,
trying to find out the properties of pre 1967 canadian coins, dimes quarters and half dollars.
According to the Royal Canadian Mint website the 1967 -- 10 Cent, 25 Cent, 50 Cent, and 1 Dollar coins are all made of 80% silver and 20% copper though there are also 1967 25 Cent coins made of 50% silver and 50% copper which have a slightly lower mass. Also, prior to 1920 the 10 Cent, 25 Cent, and 50 Cent coins were made of sterling silver (92.5% silver and 7.5% copper). I hope that helps.
I know the US and canada do. What other countries have a silver bullion coin and what is it called.
Not interested in American silver eagles or Canadian silver maple leafs.
Several countries have a silver bullion coin and most of these are silver versions of their gold coins:
Australian silver Kangaroo & Kookaburra
Austrian silver Philharmonic
British silver Britannia
Chinese silver Panda
German silver coin
Gibraltar silver Dogs
Isle of Man silver Cats
Mexican silver Libertad
New Zealand silver Kiwi
Somalian silver Monkeys
Zambian silver Elephant
There are also silver rounds which are privately minted 1 troy ounce pure silver coins with hundreds of different designs, and they can be found almost anywhere. Do an eBay search. I hope that helps.
