Last month the goverment was thinking of getting rid of the stupid worthless one cent coin. FINNNALY! WHAT THE HELL TOOK SO LONG? You can#39;t ...
DOes anyone know the vaule of this coin 1858 canadian penny. and DOes anyone know where to take it ot cash it in? In CANADA?
It is worth somewhere between $75.00 and $600.00 (retail Canadian) depending on the condition. Selling it you could probably get about half of the value. Look in your local phone book under numismatics, hobby shops, or coins. or try a google search for your province and coins for a dealer in your area.
With the range in value on this coin you may want to get it graded, the coin could easily be worth $150 retail in decent condition.
There were 421,000 minted of this coin at the British Royal Mint in London, England. Canada did not have its' own mint until 1908.
In addition to what someone wrote earlier it is a "Province of Canada" coin.

In 2003 Canada coined a penny with the prior decades bust image of the Queen in crown. A second minting that year has a more "modern" appearing queen sans crown. There is also a "P" mint mark on the "crowned queen" coin. Later mintings show three variations ... some with a P, some plain, and others with a miniature "crown" below the bust image. How come?
You can contact the Canadian mint, on line, and the information you are seeking should be there.

Hey, I recently received a 1987 Two Pence Coin. I was wondering how much that would cost in Canadian Dollars because If it's worth more than I think It is then I would like to know. I'm guessing 2 Pence 1987 Would cost Approximately A dollar. I'm just guessing. I really don't know much about coins. Thanks for your help.
You would be lucky to get $0.50CAD for it even if it is like new as there were 218,100,750 made that year, and it is not even 25 years old.
i was just wondering if you could trick the penny arcade. The penny arcade is the thing were you put all your lose change into it and it counts your money and gives you US Currency. Kinda like Coinstar without a charge.
The Penny Arcade can tell if you feed it a "blank" or a "slug" but it can not tell the difference between a Canadian and American penny. They figure that no one is going to put many Canadian pennies in it; so it doesn't cost them much..
