I am planning to buy a 24 karat gold coin from bullion direct. This is the first time i am buying a gold coin. I am seeing both Austrian Philharmonic and Canadian Maple as 24 karat, but former is cheaper that later. Do anybody know the reason? Both are 1 oz and same weight & quality. Can i buy Austrian than Canadian?
Stop!!!
You will never be able to sell that coin at the price you bought it.
Just look at ebay an see what the coin your are about to buy is worth.
Set up a disount brokerage account.
But and ETF which deal with gold like GLD
or buy a company that deals with gold like Freport McMoRan.
Trust me - you never want to buy gold coins .
If anything buy bulllion.
You will always pay through the nose for the imprint that is made on the gold coins - which is worthless.

First real video, just walking you guys through my Canadian coin collection as it stands, right now.
I have 6.85 Canadian dollars, all in coin, left over from a trip over a year ago. Since the Canadian dollar is worth more right now, I thought I'd exchange it. I went to First Bank and they told me they don't handle coins and I have to have an account with them to exchange bills. I have my account with a local credit union.
Do you know of a banking company that would exchange it for free, without needing an account, or will I just have to hold on to it untill the next time I happen to be at the border for the official currency exchange?
I've found a lot of local banks won't exchange foreign currency any longer because of the fluctuation of the dollar amount.
We have a state owned bank that still does check to see if your state has one.
The suggestion if you live near a major airport is a good one, but if you have to pay for parking and how far is it to get there will cut into what you'll get back.
We tend to throw our Canadian "change" into a jar and wait to use it when we go again.
It's hardly worth the trouble trying to exchange such a small dollar amount

I already know what the animal is. I just want to know if anyone else knows. I pick best answer on who answer correctly first.
The Caribou!
First-year 1996 Canadian Two Dollar coin. The coin took the place of the $2 bank note.
Displayed in a custom coin case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The coin was issued only in 1996, so it is over 15 years old.
I live in the southern US, and I ran across this coin at my job the other day. At first I thought it was just a Canadian dime, but I looked at it closer, and discovered it has not monetary value on it. It's the size of a dime and has something to do with the 25th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series hockey games.
Here it is compared to a Canadian dime and quarter.

And the obverse sides. The spot in the middle of it looks like some type of damage.

Any help identifting this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I figured out what it is. A friend suggested the spot on the back might have been where a pin was located. Sure enough, that's what it is. http://cgi.ebay.com/1997-RCM-Can-Russia- Hockey-series-Silver-Pin-RARE_W0QQitemZ1 80032175749QQihZ008QQcategoryZ3379QQrdZ1 QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
I am from michigan so I see canadian coins a lot, and to me it doesn't look like any coins now, but it could be an older one. Try going to a coin collector
I have found a Canadian coin that i have not been able to identify. I hope that someone can help. I'm pretty sure its not a common coin, though I may be terribly mistaken. Please try and help me identify it.
Obverse- What first struck me as odd about it was the date at the bottom: 1867-1992. This was beneath a picture of Queen Elizabeth II. The dates don't make sense. The queen is wearing an interesting crown with flowers. It also says D. G. Regina.
Reverse- The other side has a picture of what looks like three tourists with a Canadian flag on Parliment Hill in Ottowa. It says Canadian Dollar on this side.
Coin in General- Both sides of the coin have small dots bordering the edge of the coin. The sides are practically round.
Please help me if you know what coin I am talking about!
I forgot to add that is is golden colored.
This is a Canadian dollar commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the confederation. They made about 29 million. Its "aureate". Thats the Canadian Parliament building in the background on the reverse. Its "undated" but they were made in 1992.
