COIN COLLECTORS! How do you display or store your coins?

I've got a TON of coins, some in the paper folders with the cellophane, some not, some slabbed, I've got a lot of silver and gold bullion.

Right now I made a folder with my collection divided into pennies, nickels, quarters, dimes, dollars.

But I've also got a TON of silver proof state quarters, etc., and it's all in a safe, but I'd like to organize some boxes better. Are there holders for slabbed coins? ANY ideas?
Yes, I got the mylar flaps for mine, not a "coin book" where you mash the penny into the too-small-hole to "display" it.

As a fellow numismatic, the best way to store any coin is in a chemical free "Mylar flip". This is a clear plastic that does not cause discoloring or imperfections to the coin.

Those coin books are not the best to store good coins in.
You can purchase blank slabs but you would have to buy different ones for each type of coins. The Mylar flips are available from many sources.

Here are links to find what you need.

remember to wear cotton gloves while handling any coins, skin oil, will discolor and this will lower the grading value.

What can I use to display a stamp - like the coin capsules used for coin collectors?

What I am looking for is a protective clear acrylic or plastic case that can be used to display and protect stamps. By stamps I mean postage stamps, and really it is just pieces of paper about that size, so it does not have to be specific to stamps. I am looking to display the stamps in small plastic sleves. They'd be about 3cm square or so.

Really anything that I can use for this would be great. The coin cases are as close as I can figure out by myself so I bring this to the larger community. Your help is greatly appreciated. For an example of coin capsules see;

http://www.air-tites.com/Air-Tite_Direct _Fit_Coin_Holders.htm

it is just a clear plastic protective holder. Anything like that or similar ideas welcomed!

Try www.brooklyngallery.com they are a large dealer in stamp and coin supplies. They have a lot of different ways of displaying those items. Hope this points you in the right direction.

Where can I find elongated penny / coin supply manufacturers?

Could use some advanced collectors help, please. I found several sites featuring items for sale. But, I am looking for people who make those items. Collector books, display cards, and die cut card holders etc. Serious answers only, please. Thank you very much.

Try the shop on the Penny Collector website. It's a site dedicated to those machines where you stretch a penny by selecting a picture and turning the handle. Go to www.pennycollector.com

Question about stamp storage/display?

Hey all,

Got a question about stamps. Stamps aren't really my forte, I'm more a coin collector, but I came across this bag of about 1000 stamps. I assessed the value of some, they're mostly worthless, but the art work on these stamps is really impressive. They're like little paintings. My question is I want to save these, do I need to go out and get a stamp album for these little square pieces of paper or will a photo album suffice?

Thanks folks.

The "little sticky tabs to fasten the stamps" are called hinges. The hinges available now are of poor quality and ought not be used.

Another alternative would be what's called a stock book. It is a book made up of cardboard pages with strips of transparent material attached forming pockets into which you can slip your stamps. (The source below reviews stock books, but is essentially a commercial.) Googling "stock books" "stamps" returns several possibilities.

Gold Presidential Coins - $175 for full set. Is it worth it?

I just bought the first four coins of the new presidential coin collection because I thought it would be cool. (I'm not a coin collector and this would be my first collection.) I paid approximately $12 for the first four coins plus a nice leather holding case, straight from the mint. The coins have not been in circulation and have a clear display capsule.

My question is if I should order the remaining 36 for the entire set of 40. They want $162 for the remaining coins.

In your opinion, is it a wise investment? If I don't order the uncirculated coins now in the clear capsules will the mint offer that deal again? Should I wait and just collect coins that have been circulated and put them in the collection?

Any advice is appreciated.

It isn't worth it. First "The Mint" is a private company, *not* the US mint who makes all our normal coins. They do this as a business.

You've got four gold quarters, I assume? That cost them $1, plus about 5 cents per coin for the gold plating (It can be just a few atoms thick). The rest was shipping, handling and profit to the company.

These are not "gold coins". The US Mint stopped making those more than 40 years ago.

What you have is pretty to look at, but please, consult a book on stamps and coins, and you'll find that people often sell things like this at far less than they paid for them.

Still, I've got a set myself, and I enjoy looking at them. But as an investment? You could do much better elsewhere.

Investing in Gold Double Eagle Coins

Investing in double eagle coins is a definitely a wise investment decision; as of 2009, coin collectors have illustrated a serious desire for gold double eagle coins because of their impressive resiliency. Now, ultra high relief coins are accessible; these coins have a face value equivalent to twenty dollars, and the United States mint recently minted an additional 2,200+ that coin investors can invest in. This actually ups the total of available gold double eagle coins to more than 82,900+ coins. As a testament to the appeal of double eagle coins, one will find that the Mint from the United States has sold well over 816 thousand of the gold double eagle coins this year alone. The newest, ultra high relief gold double coins were just offered in January of 2009; these coins are offered with 24 karat gold and thus they prove intensely desirable to the coin collector. When a coin collector invests in Double Eagle Coins from the United States Mint, he or she gets the coins in a beautifully crafted box. The box one receives is made of the finest mahogany wood material, and the coin collector gets a full color brochure detailing the new piece that they will be adding to their existing coin collection. The coin collector will find that the interior of the box is fully line with a soft velvet to keep the coins protected during shipping and display, and a special platform inside the box makes for super easy coin presentation too. Every coin weighs in at a full troy ounce or just over 31 grams. The gold double eagle coins possess a diameter equivalent to 27 millimeters, and a thickness equivalent to four millimeters. When compared to other US Minted coin options, these coins can prove to be as much as fifty percent thicker. These coins come crafted with an eagle on the reverse side of the coin, and a liberty design on the obverse side of the coin; the same designs found on the original Saint-Gauden’s double eagle coins crafted in the year 1907. These coins have been digitally replicated and enhanced to offer a finer design, more stars, and a superior edging to the coin as well. These coins are marked with MMIX: the Roman numerals indicating the present year and the minting date of the coins.
