COIN COLLECTORS! How do you display or store your coins?
In the cabinet...

I've got a TON of coins, some in the paper folders with the cellophane, some not, some slabbed, I've got a lot of silver and gold bullion.

Right now I made a folder with my collection divided into pennies, nickels, quarters, dimes, dollars.

But I've also got a TON of silver proof state quarters, etc., and it's all in a safe, but I'd like to organize some boxes better. Are there holders for slabbed coins? ANY ideas?
Yes, I got the mylar flaps for mine, not a "coin book" where you mash the penny into the too-small-hole to "display" it.

As a fellow numismatic, the best way to store any coin is in a chemical free "Mylar flip". This is a clear plastic that does not cause discoloring or imperfections to the coin.

Those coin books are not the best to store good coins in.
You can purchase blank slabs but you would have to buy different ones for each type of coins. The Mylar flips are available from many sources.

Here are links to find what you need.

remember to wear cotton gloves while handling any coins, skin oil, will discolor and this will lower the grading value.

What's the best way to displays my quater collection?

I wants to display my quaters nicely. My husband says thats coin collecters are sexy. Should I put them in a nice boxed or what? I'd likes to turns him on!

I collect coins and I bought a wall hung case for mine and hung it on the wall. One thing you should know, the collection is not done yet even if you have all 50. They are minting new ones for Washington D.C and all the territories that belong to the U.S. Happy collecting, I love it. Any coin dealer will have the display cases for the coins. I think I am sexy also.

Daughter needs expired dog tags for prject?

Hello my daughter is in grade 7. For the end of the year school project the kids must bring in a collection of something I.E coins stamps..etc. She has decided to try and collect any dog tags she can. What she is looking for are expired city dog tags. Please anyone who can help would be thanked greatly. So far she has Nova Scotia, Ontario, Alberta and B.C. She wants the rest of Canada, US and International. She knows she may not get all..but can't blame her for trying. She also would like to get some different cities or regions in each state or province or island.

Anyone interested in helping please email her at beauceron_gsd@live.com and just post an answer on here saying you sent or are sending out an email.

Thanks alot and after the project is done I will post how many we got and from where.

Anyone have any ideas how to display the tags? Bristle board? Should I buy here a showcase and where can I get one?

What the school is doing is having get together sometime in august. Date isnt set yet but the principle said middle of August. There will be no marks but prizes awarded to the good presentations. The collection will also be displayed in the school glass enclosed display box they have in the front hallway for the first 3 months of the next school year. They decided to do it in August becasue they are renovating the school through the summer and its going to be kinda like..hmmm something to describe..a get together to find out what teacher you will get and all that stuff. The project is only assigned to the 2 grade 7 classes. They have it every year. Even expired rabies tags will do...she is hoping to get as many as she can..
Our provinces tags expire every year and we do not have to turn in any expired tags for licensing or rabies.

After your daughter gets her collection of dog tags, have HER draw a map of Canada & the US with each state/province. Most everyone uses poster board for this project. Mount it to 1/4 inch plywood ( glue it). Put each tag on a small metal cup hook and then squeeze them closed with vice-grips. Next have her screw them in the state/province. Now everyone can see them at a glance. Decorate with different size dog biscuits, collars, lead, dog toys, bone, etc. use her imagination. You can even cut it out in the shape of a big dog bone or the shape of your province . Or not. Good luck.

I would think that a local dog shelter would have various and sundry tags they would probably give you. I know that when animals are captured in my area, they are given new shots and as a result new rabies tags, so they must have old ones in some cases. Worth asking, sounds like a great project!

Metal detector settings?

I just got a metal detector with a control box display that looks like this ------http://goldhunterdetectors.com/images/tr easure_snoop.jpg------ and i've tested it on coins and nails which I placed on the lawn. It only seems to pick them up on all metal mode. Once in every 20 waves over the coin in notch mode there will be a high pitch beep but that's it. How do I get it to pick up metals that aren't iron???

Australian Dollar Coins 2009 Bicentenary of Australia Post Dollar

2009 celebrated 200 years of the Australian postal service delivering letters and parcels to their destinations Australia wide. Australia's first post master Isaac Nichols took charge of packages arriving by ship at Sydney wharves working from his home in Sydney to deliver the mail. It wasn't until the postal act of 1825 that the NSW Governor fixed postage prices appointing post masters outside Sydney allowing for a more organised postal service. Now, there are more than 16,000 post boxes on streets throughout Australia.

This 2009 uncirculated one dollar coin was only issued in a PNC by Australia Post and a two coin set by the Royal Australian Mint. The two coin set also features a proof $5 coin depicting Isaac Nichols' residence.
