I have a huge amount of Canadian silver dollars that I inherited & I want to display them on the wall in my sonns room, is there a product for this?
If you live in Canada check with some coin dealers there. The Canadian silver dollars, the large ones are 36.06 mm in diameter where as the U.S. silver dollars up to 1978 are 38.1 mm in diameter so dollar wall frames made here have holes that are to big. Most of the older Canadian dollars are collector items and have a large collector base in both countries. In Canada you can try J&M Coin email them at coins @jandm.com. You can also try Gatewest Coin www.gatewestcoin.com, the only email address I have for them is usa@gatewest.com. Please find a system that preserves the collectability of the coins and never clean them. Hope this helps.

I am looking for something to go on my wall with little open compartments for corks holding a coin (English tradition) Please look at this weblike as this candle holder is perfect but the compartment sizes are too small....they need to be at lease 3" x 2" to hold the cork and coin. I guess its a display case I am looking for? http://www.westelm.com/online/store/Prod uctDisplay?partNumber=WE-PRODp171&st oreId=17001&langId=-1&catalogId= 17002&viewSetCode=E&parentId=WE- SH1ACCCAN&retainNav=true&cmsrc=W E-SH1ACCCAN
Joanna, as a carpenter/cabinet make, I can tell you that making something like this will be a little costly. (if built by a professional). You might want to go to A.C. Moore, they have a lot of raw wood display cases, and might have what you need. If you want them built, send me a message with your final measurements, and I'll give you an idea what I would charge.
Also consider what materials you'd want to use...pine, oak, maple, poplar, and if you wanted the item painted, stained, varnished, or left raw.

Well, it sort of depends on what kind of coins she has. If they are all of similar size, you may just want to line them up by year. If they are from a particular country, you may want to find a picture or image (say a blown up post card) and arrange the coins on that.
If they are valuable you might just want to go to a coin collector shop and see if they have any special type of frame or case that will hold the coins without glue.

Can America still be called a Christian nation? It is certainly a more religiously pluralistic and diverse society than it was during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. There are increasing numbers of non-Christians immigrating to this country, and there has been a rapid rise in adherents to Islam among our population. There are millions of Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Shintoists, Unitarians, Hindus, Wiccans, Naturists, Agnostics, and Atheists, but Christians comprise roughly 84% of the population. Our constitutional legal system is still based on the Jewish/Christian Bible, not the Koran or other holy book. We still observe Sunday, the Christian Sabbath, as an official holiday. Easter and Christmas still have a special place in the holiday lexicon. The Ten Commandments are still on the wall behind the Supreme Court Justices when they take the bench. Our coins still display the motto "In God We Trust." The US is still firmly part of a Western Civilization fashioned by a Judeo-Christian religious ethic and heritage. Alexis de Tocqueville observed more than a century and a half ago, "There is no country in the world, where the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America." That is still true today. We live, not under a Christian government, but in a nation where all are free to practice their particular religion, in accommodation with other religions, and in accordance with the basic principles of the nation, which are Christian in origin. It is in that sense that America may properly be referred to as a Christian nation.
Yes, we are a Christain nation. Don't listen to these guys. There probaly some crazy liberals. Anyways, Obama doesn't know what he is saying. Muslim nation? There isnt half as many Muslims as there are Christans. Everyone is so insane. I can't believe this is the kind of world I'm growing up in.....
You have a penny, a nickel, a dime, a quarter, and a dollar coin. How many ways can you stack them up?
0f 40 stocks, 20 usually perform below average and the other 20 above average. If 10 of the 40 stocks are selected at random, what is the probability that 5 of them will perform below average and 5 will perform above average
You have collected a picture from each of the 10 persons who have most profoundly influenced your life. How many ways can you display 8 of these pictures in one row on your office wall?
there are 5! = 120 permutations for the stack of coins.
for the stocks...
You can use the hypergeometric distribution to find the solution
Let X be the number of stocks performing below average. X has the hypergeometric distribution with the following parameters.
K = number of items to be drawn = 10
N = total objects = 40
M = number of objects of a given type = 20
The probability mass function for the hypergeometric distribution is defined as:
P(X = x | N, M, K) = ( M C x ) * ( (N - M) C (K - x) ) / ( N C K )
for x = {0, ..., K}; M - (N - K) ≤ x ≤ K
P(X = 0 | N, M, K) = 0 otherwise
Note that the constraints on x here are very generic and it is possible to have value of K, N and M such that for x in {0, ..., K} P(X = x) = 0.
If you have n objects and chose r of them, the number of combinations is:
n! / ( r! (n-r)! )
this can be written as nCr
the N C K is the total number of possible combinations of K objects drawn from N objects.
the M C x is the number of combinations of getting x objects of the given type
the (N - M) C ( K - x) is the number of combinations of non typed objects to be drawn.
Looking at the PMF you should be able to see that it is the ratio of the number of combination of selecting the X of the items of interest times the number of combinations of choosing K - X items from the remaining items and this is all divided by the total number of combination for choosing K items from N objects.
The expectations of the Hypergeometric distribution is KM / N = 5
The Probability Mass Function, PMF,
f(X) = P(X = x) is:
P(X = 0 ) = 0.0002179599
P(X = 1 ) = 0.003962907
P(X = 2 ) = 0.02823571
P(X = 3 ) = 0.1042549
P(X = 4 ) = 0.2215418
P(X = 5 ) = 0.2835734 <<<< ANSWER
P(X = 6 ) = 0.2215418
P(X = 7 ) = 0.1042549
P(X = 8 ) = 0.02823571
P(X = 9 ) = 0.003962907
P(X = 10 ) = 0.0002179599
for the pictures:
If you have n objects there are n! permutations of these objects.
If you have n objects and select r of them you have n! / (n - r)! permutations of the r objects. This can be written as n P r.
here you have 10 P 8 = 10! / (10 - 8)! = 1814400
